Spring Chinook
Spring Chinook enter the lower Rogue starting in late February and early March. The 150 mile journey to our section of the Rogue River has our Pro Staff hooking up in mid-May until the end of August. Chinook typically average about 18 to 23 pounds, with the occasional 30 lb fish boated. These fish are fighters so get ready for a hard pull! In addition to Chinook, Pro Staffers also target Summer run Steelhead starting in mid July. Its not uncommon for clients to land multiple summer run Steelhead in addition to Chinook salmon!
Fall Chinook on the Rogue start entering the river in July and are fished for at the mouth of the river in Gold Beach with August and September being the primary months for the Pro Staff hook up. The fall run is a very large native run of Chinook on the Rogue with weights slightly higher than Spring Chinook but more opportunity to catch a much larger fish, sometimes exceeding 40 lbs.
Summer Steelhead
Summer Steelhead enter the Rogue starting in late June. The 150 mile journey to our section of the Rogue River has our Pro Staff hooking up in mid-July through November. Summer Steelhead are very aggressive and very willing biters to most offerings. They average 4 to 7 pounds, with the occasional fish exceeding 10 lbs. Pro Staffers also target Chinook salmon during July and August so it’s not uncommon for clients to land multiple summer run Steelhead in addition to Chinook salmon!
Winter Steelhead
Winter Steelhead start entering the lower Rogue in late November and early December. Depending on the water conditions, Pro Staffers start targeting them in mid January. Peak months are February to early April. Winter Steelhead on the Rogue average 6 to 9 pounds, with the occasional fish in the teens. Winter Steelhead are known for their unparalleled energy levels and acrobatics above the water.
World Class Bass Fishing
A Pro Staff favorite at the Discovery Park, Bass fishing at its finest! Our river access only Discovery Park contains a 40 acre lake that produces what is arguably described as “Out of this world fishing” Located under the Lower Table Rock monument, the Discovery Park offers some of the most scenic beauty Southern Oregon has to offer. April through October is the general time frame for fishing but some say it doesn’t matter, the fishing is just great anytime.
The lake contains large and small mouth bass, bluegill, striped perch, catfish, and crappie. Clients consistently boat 20-60 fish a day and many times that’s within hours of arrival.
The Discover Park is a stop off for Pro Staff guided Salmon and Steelhead trips. Many clients finish out their day here. You can book the Discovery Park only, or book Salmon or Steelhead and tell your Pro staff guide you’d like to spend time fishing the Discovery Park too. No extra cost, just a great combination of memory making experiences.
